In a perverse way, I was glad for the stitches, glad it would show, that there would be scars. What was the point in just being hurt on the inside? It should bloody well show.”― Janeth Fitch

scars

Scars are graves
of unforgotten pain,
we visit and remember

sometime we overthink
and we’re scared
that someday those corpses
will rise from their tombs
haunting us
wounding us even more

Scars are graves
of unforgotten pain, healed
we visit and remember the dead.

    1. Sorry….too fast fingers…didn’t mean to post that yet. Also wanted to indicate that so many times, people bury scars…scars that are not physical but are mentally felt…so in that way too, scars are buried.

  1. I think the third verse just makes this poetic piece flow perfectly together and moves one to the importance of the journey of healing. Then the graves can be revisited and not scare. ❤
