For what beauty is, of what love did

May 6,

peotry quote

Here’s for dVerse Golden Shovel form challenge:

inspired by Robert Hayden’s Those Winter Sundays

speak of love dear poet for what?
whom neither did
but should you or should i?
these ardent words know,
the vivid truth for what
beauty is, of what love did
is beautiful, and i
should write for you to know.

-emangarduque

Guess what? Yes, I’m up for another poetry challenge.Reading Lilian’s poem today kindled me to write one too. Oh I just can’t resist writing a poem if I can!

The form was new to me; so I was a bit curious and at same time excited. It build smoothly as words just came submissively, like a natural flowing river.

p.s. the line is what did i know, what did i know

  1. Hi! Welcome to dVerse! I’m so glad you followed our amazing Lillian over! I love your piece. Happy you played Golden Shovel with us! I like this, especially:
    “these ardent words know,
    the vivid truth”

  2. Succinct and lovely! I particularly love how this piece begins with a question and ends with the answer: “speak of love dear poet for what?”
… “i should write for you to know.”
